mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines for Children Under Five: Dosing and Schedule

This fact sheet contains information about the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (i.e., Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech) to help you make the most informed decision possible about getting the vaccine for your child to better protect them, your loved ones, and tribal communities—both urban and rural.

Both vaccines received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for children ages six months to four years on June 17, 2022. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are safe and effective at preventing COVID-19 for all authorized age groups, as demonstrated in clinical trials including over 6,000 children some of whom were American Indian and/or Alaska Native.
